About

Leah Jonker

Born in Boulder Colorado, I'm native to the Rockies and wild at heart like the mountain lions and big-horned sheep.  But for the past three years I've been residing in the city of Grand Rapids, Michigan where I attend Calvin College with a double major in Geography and Writing.

Living in the mountains, I'd like to say I'm a hardcore explorer, but the truth is, I'm a sugar addict who loves skittles and frosting and currently I have an ice pack tied to my leg from this afternoon's hike. I do enjoy the newness of place, however, and this lack of "hardcore" hasn't stopped my adventurous nature yet.

Traveling, on the other hand, is second nature to me.  At the age of ten, my family drove across the US visiting 36 states and over 50 National Parks within the confinements of a 26 foot trailer and a six-month time frame, but I'm very much a newbie when it comes to crossing the border. Day-trips to Mexico and Canada are the peak of my experience and since I have a hard time even considering Canada foreign, I'm probably as naive as travelers come. But it has always been a dream of mine to stamp that foreign ink into my passport!
